STELLA CHUNG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

“Stella Chung was a brilliant, ambitious TPHS graduate and Johns Hopkins freshman at the time of her passing. She not only had a successful future ahead of her as a Public Health major and leader in the Johns Hopkins Chamber Music Ensemble and Sport Taekwondo Club, but had already built a lasting legacy at Torrey Pines. She was seen as a compassionate leader to numerous students both from and outside of school; she presided over the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), National Honor Society (NHS), iGEM, and Speech and Debate. Stella began playing the violin at age 6, and went on to share her passion for music with others as a loyal member and section leader of the TPHS orchestra, Youth En Gedi Ensemble and San Diego Youth Symphony. 

More than anything, Stella is remembered for her warm, humble, and empathetic influence on her friends and community. She was always full of joy, and constantly gave to others without asking for anything in return. She wanted to pursue emergency medicine to help more people in their times of need. Her kindness left a tremendous impact on the communities around her, yet she never asked for anything more and appreciated every sacrifice her family had made for her. Whether it be violin, clubs, relationships, or her academics, she cherished and put her heart into everything she did, and strived to be the best she could be every day.”
