Kit Moffett MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Catherine Chavez Moffett began her teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District, took some time off to raise 3 beautiful children, and resumed her career at Torrey Pines High School in 1999, where she set high expectations for her students in both Honors English 9 and AP English Language and Composition.

At times over the years, Kit also taught acting classes at TPHS and accompanied students to drama competitions, which allowed her to return to her longtime love of drama and acting, interests she pursued while she was in college at the University of Southern California. Kit dedicated the last 20 years to fostering a love of language—its style and nuances—with her high achieving students while also sharing her intellect, critical feedback, quick wit, and college guidance, both as a teacher and participant in the Mentor Program.

Beloved by her students, Kit was also a respected staff member who shared her sage advice with colleagues, mentored new professionals, and built confidence in new parents as she was an amazing role model—professionally and personally.
